What is Neurofeedback Therapy?
Neurofeedback Therapy, also known as EEG Biofeedback, is a brain-based treatment that uses a sophisticated brain-computer interface to “strengthen” or “rewire” the brain, by training brainwaves, the tiny electrical signals produced by the brain. At The Perth Brain Centre Neurofeedback Therapy is guided by information from special brain scans known as QEEG (Quantitative Electro-Encephalogram). The information from these scans permits targeted and individualised treatment.
Research shows that Neurofeedback Therapy can be as effective as medication for some conditions, but with long-term results and little or no side-effects. There is considerable research showing that Neurofeedback Therapy can change the brain and can help problems such as ADHD and Learning Disorders, Anxiety, Depression and Epilepsy, and can also improve cognitive function in healthy people (often called Peak Performance Training). There is also evidence demonstrating that Neurofeedback Therapy can help other problems such as Addictive Disorders (alcohol and other drugs), Autism Spectrum Disorders and Insomnia, however there is less research published about this.
Who can benefit from Neurofeedback Therapy?
Neurofeedback Therapy is suitable for people of almost any age, from young children to the elderly. At The Perth Brain Centre we focus on helping people looking for assistance with:
